Lewis Hamilton’s shocking news this week that the 7-time Formula 1 champion is leaving the friendly confines of Mercedes—where’s he’s won all seven of his championships—to race for arch rival Ferrari certainty caught a lot of people off guard.

On Saturday, Hamilton addressed the news about his upcoming move and some of his reasons behind it in a post curiously pointing out, “right now, I’m not thinking about 2025. My focus is on the upcoming season and getting back out on track with Mercedes.”
