James Hinchliffe is going plaid in 2024.

The long-time IndyCar racer turned NBC TV personality and racing analyst announced today on social media that he has agreed to join Pfaff Motorsports for three endurance races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD Pro class for 2024.

The deal goes beyond just jumping into the car for three races in the team’s No. 9 McLaren. At Pfaff, Hinchcliffe will also be part of Pfaff Motorsports’ behind-the-scenes operation, assisting in commercial and partnership opportunities.

“As a Canadian, I am proud of this next venture with Canada’s top performing race team and can’t thank Christopher Pfaff, Steve Bortolotti and many others for bringing this together,” Hinchliffe posted. “Let’s get to Daytona International Speedway !!”

Hinchcliffe, who turns 37 in December, was a six-time winner during his 11 years in the NTT IndyCar Series. His last year in that open-wheel series was 2021, when he raced for Andretti Autosport.

Pfaff Motorsports, a team that may be best known for its plaid liveries, finished fourth in the 2023 GTD Pro category. The team raced Porsche 911 GTE 3 cars this past season before announcing in October that it will be moving to McLaren for a one-car effort in 2024.
